Artwork – Scarabées sur la dune (Scarabs on the Dune)

An embroidered artwork where beetles move across the dune — “Scarabées sur la dune (Scarabs on the Dune)” — a mythical scene elevated by Maison Sekimoto.

Description

Scarabées sur la dune (Beetles on the Dune)” is part of the Microcosmos collection, where each insect becomes a symbolic figure. In this embroidered artwork, beetles appear as solar creatures, moving across the dune like a mythological procession.
Created by Satoshi Sekimoto, MOF in Haute Couture Embroidery and Master Artisan of Art, the piece combines the rigor of Lunéville hook embroidery with the delicacy of needlework. Threads, beads, and sequins convey the mineral light of sand and the timeless power of the beetle, a sacred animal of ancient civilizations.
A tribute to life’s persistence and the universal symbolism of the solar insect, brought to life through Maison Sekimoto’s exceptional craftsmanship.

Composition: Lunéville hook and needle embroidery, glass beads, sequins, silk and cotton threads, on canvas.
