Lafont and Sekimoto at SILMO 23

This year, at SILMO Lafont Paris, along with Sekimoto, was awarded the special jury prize for their frame “OUVRAGE.” Silmo Gold Award 2023 Maison Lafont partnered with Sekimoto to celebrate its centenary by creating a unique frame. Satoshi Sekimoto, Best Craftsman of France in Haute Couture embroidery, and Thomas LAFONT combined their passion and together created an exquisite embroidered frame, called Ouvrage. Based on a Haute Couture concept developed by Thomas Lafont, Satoshi Sekimoto crafted this original frame like a dress with pearls and embellishments.

About Satoshi Sekimoto

Satoshi was born in Hiroshima, Japan. His mother, a kimono seamstress, introduced him to ancestral crafts at an early age. At the age of 22, Satoshi moved to France and entered the prestigious Maison Lesage school. He then embarked on a career as an independent artisan, collaborating with leading Haute Couture houses.

2015: He received the title of Best Craftsman of France in Haute Couture embroidery.

2022: Satoshi and his partner Laurent founded Maison Sekimoto.

2023: Satoshi receives the title of Master Craftsman in Métier d’Art, further enhancing his reputation and expertise.

Trained in the finest embroidery workshops in France, Satoshi Sekimoto brings delicacy and lightness to the frame through his skill and attention to detail. Imagining the design of the Haute Couture frame created by Thomas Lafont as a dress, he adorned the upper section of the frame with the same pearl embroideries and embellishments used in haute couture.

Maison Lafont continues to promote the authenticity of French craftsmanship, and this collaboration allows the brand to expand its mode of expression, this time with a touch of Parisian Haute Couture.
