The embroidery exhibition of the artist Satoshi Sekimoto, who is active in Paris, will be held on the 22nd and 23rd in Ginza, Tokyo. Last year, Satoshi became the first Japanese to receive the prestigious MOF (Meilleur Ouvrier de France) award in the haute couture embroidery category. The exhibition will showcase approximately 10 pieces, including the award-winning jacket with paisley patterns embroidered with beads on a golden fabric. Hailing from Hiroshima Prefecture, Satoshi was captivated by embroidery at a Japanese fashion school and moved to France in 2004. Since 2008, he has been affiliated with major ateliers, contributing to the creation of garments for renowned fashion houses such as Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent. Haute couture dresses can involve up to 800 to 1200 hours of embroidery, and Satoshi’s award-winning piece took 9 months to complete. He expresses his happiness at the prospect of more people getting to know his work. The exhibition will take place at Atelier Bleu, a embroidery studio on the 7th floor of the Okuno Building in Ginza 1-chome, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Additionally, there will be a display at the Ishida Asaki Total Fashion College in Hiroshima’s Naka Ward on the 29th and 30th.
