Description:

Cosy Jungle published an article about her experience exhibiting at the European Days of Arts and Crafts (JEMA).

Candice Aubert-Dhô shares the concept of this event, the beautiful setting of Les Baux-de-Provence, her booth, and the fellow artisans she had the pleasure of collaborating with.

Translation:

JEMA 2024: An Exceptional Selection
The village of Les Baux-de-Provence carefully selects the artisans who will bring life to its winding cobblestone streets.

The choice of craftspeople is made in close collaboration with CMA Marseille, with a strong focus on craftsmanship excellence and the outstanding quality of the artisans who represent the arts and crafts sector.

It must be said—the result is remarkable. We ourselves felt enveloped in a true jewel box.

Thirty handpicked artisans were showcased in the village of Les Baux.

And I say this with full confidence: it was the most beautiful JEMA event in the region!

Many visitors told me they didn’t expect such a high level of quality—they “simply weren’t expecting this level of excellence.”

It’s a real joy to share our creative worlds and promote the values of artistic craftsmanship: working on a human scale requires us to rethink how we consume.

We must reimagine the world in a way that is more respectful of both people and the environment.

It’s also a privilege to share our work under such conditions—and even more so to get to know our fellow artisans during those three days.

And I was in good company:

  • Weaving: Candice Aubert-Dhô for Cosy Jungle – Salon-de-Provence
  • Felt cushions: Atelier de la Serena – Venasque
  • Beetle in progress: Maison Sekimoto (MOF in haute couture embroidery) – Plan-de-Cuques
  • Recycled silver jewelry: Melissa Cortèse, jeweler – Marseille

We truly enjoyed discovering each other’s work, sharing our challenges, and imagining new possibilities together.

I would have loved to participate in some of the workshops offered during those three days…

We were absolutely in awe of Maison Sekimoto’s embroidery work!
Satoshi brought a sample of the piece he created for the Meilleur Ouvrier de France competition: a Maharajah jacket… a true masterpiece!

Because that’s what JEMA is also about—being amazed by what our hands are capable of.
Curiosity, simply. And awe in front of still-undiscovered talents.

There were also Virginie Brunet (cabinetmaker), Libre Argile, Lamaro, Marina Arena (sculptor), and many more!

Craftsmanship moves us deeply and still holds so many wonders.

What a joy it was to take part in this adventure.
