Description of the event:
Maison Sekimoto at Artisans d’Excellence
Un double anniversaire : 10 ans de l’excellence MOF et 100 ans de l’Art Déco
In 2025, two milestones intersect and resonate: the 10th anniversary of the Meilleur Ouvrier de France title awarded to Satoshi Sekimoto, and the centenary of Art Deco, a defining movement in the history of world architecture and decorative arts.
To celebrate this dual occasion, Maison Sekimoto is honored to participate in Artisans d’Excellence, held at the Palais de la Porte Dorée, an emblematic Art Deco landmark.
“A House of Art is embroidered day after day, stitch after stitch, between heritage and invention.”
Laurent Sekimoto
A House between tradition and modernity
Maison Sekimoto has a singular vocation: to keep embroidery alive in its time.
Like Japan, which balances modernity and tradition, and in the spirit of France, which excels in evolving its savoir-faire, the House embraces a creative duality:
- A line that is resolutely graphic, architectural, and contemporary, playing with large formats and powerful volumes.
- A line directly inspired by Art Deco, celebrating nature, ornamentation, a love of detail, and ultimate luxury, like jeweled embroidery designed for decoration.
“I love to explore the limits of embroidery: it can become volume, architecture, light.”
Satoshi Sekimoto
At the crossroads of these two worlds, a masterful Haute Couture work embodies the encounter between heritage and innovation.
French excellence in an exceptional setting
As a Meilleur Ouvrier de France, Satoshi Sekimoto stands as an ambassador of French savoir-faire, embodying both rigor and transmission.
“Embroidery, like architecture, inscribes beauty into permanence.”
Laurent Sekimoto
Exhibiting in the Forum of the Palais de la Porte Dorée is no coincidence: conceived for the 1931 Exposition Coloniale Internationale, this venue was itself designed as a showcase for France’s cultural influence abroad.
In this prestigious setting, Maison Sekimoto naturally finds its place, continuing its mission to let embroidery shine beyond its traditional boundaries.
We invite you to discover our creations from October 2 to 5, 2025, at the Palais de la Porte Dorée.
