【Special Limited Edition Model】Lafont x Maison Sekimoto Collaboration Model “RIO HANABI”

Good evening, this is the Inspiral blog. Today we are introducing the “RIO HANABI” model, a collaboration between Lafont and MAISON SEKIMOTO, in conjunction with the Lafont trunk show that started today at our Seijo store (January 21 – February 5). Lafont is one of France’s most iconic eyewear brands.

This “RIO HANABI” model is a collaboration between Thomas Lafont, Artistic Director of Maison Lafont, and Satoshi Sekimoto, recipient of the Meilleur Ouvrier de France (MOF) title in Haute Couture embroidery.

This is their second collaboration, following the first model “OUVRAGE.”

For this “RIO HANABI” creation, it all began when Thomas showed Mr. Sekimoto an art book on pointillism as an inspirational image to incorporate into the sunglasses model “RIO.”

The color scheme combines luxurious and chic tones of black and gold.

Mr. Sekimoto shared that he envisioned embroidery that was not sharply defined but rather blurred, and the image of a senko hanabi (a delicate Japanese sparkler firework) came to him – dynamic and crackling, yet fleeting and beautiful.

Both creators wished to add a Japanese cultural touch to the French aesthetic, leading to the birth of this “RIO HANABI.”
